CHEPSTOW CASTLE

1. Where is it? it is located in Chepstow.Monmouthshire in Wales.
2.How old is it? it is 945 years old
3.Who built it?  it was built by William  the Conqueror or his son Roger Fitz Osbern on a high cliff overloking  the river  Wye
4.When was it built? it was begun in 1067 a year after the Battle of Hastings.
Chepstow was heavily modified and added too during the 12th century and the 13th
century saw mostly domestic work being carried out.
5.Why was it built? it was the  southermost of a chain of castle built along the English border in Welsh Marches.It was built to subdue the Welsh of Gwent.
